The aim of this task is for participants to develop a basic understanding of the legal terms relevant to dealing with copyright and licenses and to familiarize themselves with various sources of information on open content. In addition, they will learn about the terms and conditions of the various Creative Commons licenses in a scenario-based learning process.

Procedure
This task consists of two parts.
Participants are first divided into pairs. In these pairs, they work on the cloze text on the topic of copyright (work material 1). They can check their results using a solution text (training material 1).
In the second part, the pairs work on the Creative Commons puzzle and assign the appropriate licenses to the individual scenarios.
The results are then discussed in a plenary session, during which any uncertainties regarding the gap-fill text are clarified and the Creative Commons puzzle is solved.
Preparation
- Worksheets 1 and 2 and, if necessary, training materials 1 and 2 must be printed out and worksheet 2 must be cut out.
Notes on moderation
- As the political situation surrounding copyright on the internet changes quite frequently, it is advisable to check the validity of the sources provided here and update them if necessary.
- Following the last working phase of the core groups, the scenarios should be discussed in a plenary session so that any open questions can be clarified or discussed.
- Alternatively, the three scenarios can also be worked on in the core groups instead of in the expert groups. The expert groups would then only compare, discuss, and complete the results of the individual work.
- The information presented in the sources provided refers to the German legal situation regarding copyright on the internet and cannot be readily transferred to Austria or German-speaking Switzerland/Luxembourg.
