Procedure
This task consists of two parts.
In the first part, pieces of paper are drawn from a lottery box, each with a tool written on it. The tools are:
Filegator, Dropbox, Padlet, USB, WeTransfer, bridgefy, Bluetooth, Airdrop, telegra.ph, kurzelinks.de, QR code generator
In pairs, participants then explore the respective tools as practically as possible, asking themselves the following questions:
- What is the tool intended for?
- What exciting features does it offer?
- How can I use the tool privately or professionally?
- What other creative uses are there?
- Where are the potential pitfalls?
In the second part, the results are evaluated and discussed in a plenary session.
Preparation
- The individual tools must be written on moderation cards or printed out and cut out. They must also be prepared so that participants can randomly select individual tools for group work.
Notes on moderation
- This task is inspired by the Digital Sandbox Time method described by education consultant Nele Hirsch on her blog ebildungslabor.de.
- Depending on how much time is available, it may be useful for participants to draw several times and familiarize themselves with several tools. It is not a problem if the tools are in the lottery pot more than once. On the contrary, if several participants work with the same tool, the final discussion can be more fruitful.
- Participants can be encouraged to add further tools or technologies to the example tools and to answer the questions about these as well.
