The citizen youth juries of the National Youth Council of Ireland take on AI.

In just a few short years artificial intelligence has transformed how we work and live. The speed and scale of this change surpassed anything any of us could have imagined.

Against this overall backdrop, the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYI) asked their youth juries to to share their perspectives on key policy debates regarding AI. From the introduction:

“From the impact of AI on access to work and mental health services, to the opportunities it presents in education and the wider economy, these juries have developed thoughtful and grounded recommendations based on young people’s lived experiences. Their report offers a unique insight into how AI is shaping young people’s lives today, as well as the protections, opportunities, and policy responses they believe are needed.”

The publication was developed as a part of “Empowering Young People through AI, Data and Emerging Technologies”, a two‑year national programme designed to build awareness and skills among young people and youth workers.
