Procedure
This task consists of five parts.
In the first part, generally accepted values and principles of youth work are collected in a plenary session.
In the second part, each participant receives three blue, red, and green dots. The blue dots are used to mark those principles and values that participants can easily translate into the digital realm. Red dots mark the principles that pose obstacles or difficulties in digital implementation, and green dots mark the values that are newly added through digital youth work.
In the third part, participants are divided into red, blue, and green groups by drawing lots. Each group should now create a digital memory game, e.g., using the online tool interacty. Each group selects a value marked in their color and assigns the following to each value, depending on the group:
- The blue group selects a value marked in blue or a principle marked in blue and describes how they would implement it in digital youth work. They should describe the methods and tools as precisely as possible and explain why they are appropriate for the selected principle.
- The red group selects one of the principles that received red dots and describes the obstacles they see: What is the dilemma? How can youth work also do justice to this principle in the digital world? What would be needed to implement it?
The green group selects one of the principles newly added through digital youth work. They describe why this value has special significance in digital implementation.
- What is new about it? How will it be implemented?
Once the group has finished assigning the principles, it converts its terms into a digital memory game and prepares it so that it can be played by the other groups.
In the fourth part, all participants play the memory games that they did not create themselves.
In the fifth part, the results are presented and discussed in a plenary session. Differences and similarities between traditional and digital youth work are collected.
Preparation
- It is useful to familiarize yourself with various catalogs of values in youth work in advance.
Tips for moderation
- Depending on the group, it may be useful to refer to an existing catalog of values and discuss it instead of compiling a new one from scratch. In addition to regional or organization-specific catalogs of values, the links in the sources can serve as references:
