The aim of the task is for participants to think through the solution to technical problems using pragmatic examples, develop strategic considerations, and visualize these in a flowchart.

Procedure
This task consists of two parts.
In the first part, participants are divided into groups of 2–4 people. Each group selects a technical problem from training material 1 and jointly considers and researches possible, but concrete, approaches and solutions.
The problem statements in training material 1 are deliberately vague so that participants are encouraged to think not only about possible solutions, but also about possible causes of the problem and to find specific solutions for specific causes.
Participants then record their thoughts in the form of a flowchart. The possible causes should be used as starting points in the problem description and then incorporated into possible solution steps.
In the second part, the individual groups present their results to each other in a plenary session and can supplement their flowcharts with ideas from the other groups if necessary.
Preparation
- Training material 1 must be printed out and cut up.
Notes on moderation
- The statements in training material 1 can be easily embedded in an everyday context due to their vague wording. They can be presented, for example, as questions from less tech-savvy colleagues or relatives who are unable to describe their technical problems precisely due to their lack of knowledge.
- If individual groups or all groups finish their problem statements relatively quickly, they can of course draw additional problems.
