This task consists of four parts.

In the first part, participants are provided with printed worksheet 1, read through the assignment, and begin the first step by exploring the image and text material for inspiration. Before participants move on to the next step, the trainer explains the automatic writing method and answers any questions about the task.

In the second part, participants practice the automatic writing method for exactly 5 minutes, with the facilitator timing them.

In the third part, participants are divided into pairs, in which they carry out the rest of the steps independently.

In the fourth part, they present their results to the whole group, discussing and reflecting on the work process.

  • It is worthwhile to familiarize yourself with the techniques of automatic writing in advance. Trainers can find information about the automatic writing method here, for example: Écriture automatique – Wikipedia or here: Rapid Writing. Information about txt.fyi is available at <https://txt.fyi/about/>, where a German version is also linked.
  • In this task, participants are confronted with a wide range of different work steps and tools. It is therefore important to closely supervise the work in the pairs and to be available to answer questions proactively.
  • This task is about discovering the creative potential of remix culture. If participants come up with creative ideas that deviate from the task at hand (e.g., using other tools or exchanging media for remixing in larger groups), they should feel free to pursue these ideas.
  • Before the second step is carried out, the trainers should explain the automatic writing method and how txt.fyiworks in detail. This will allow any questions to be answered and the task to be adapted to the individual needs of the participants if necessary.
